Isolate Networking Issues with MTR

MTR will show you all of the hops between you and the destination that you specify, along with the latency between hops and percentage of packets dropped at each hop


MTR should already be installed on eSecureData CentOS 6 deploys

Install MTR on CentOS

yum install mtr -y

Install MTR on Ubuntu or Debian

sudo apt-get install mtr


To use MTR, just run the MTR command along with the hostname or IP that you want to diagnose the route to


You can press n to toggle DNS off and on

Press ctrl-c to quit. It is recommended to quit MTR as soon as you are finished your diagnostics, as running MTR may cause reduced network performance
