How to disable startup items on Windows 8

Open Task Manager
-> Startup
-> Uncheck items

Solution

In order to enable or disable specific start up items in Windows 8, you have to access the task manager.
There are two common methods.

1. Push Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select Task Manager
2. Windows key + R and type taskmgr

Once the task manager has opened, select 'Startup'
If you do not see 'Startup' as an option, you may need to select 'More details' at the bottom

You many then select any application and choose disable at the bottom.
